Summer 2010

So far we've had an amazing summer break. Evan went to the GRAND CANYON with Grammy (Craig's mom)and his cousind Dillinger. They went on jeep tours, saw wild fires and went horse back riding! Craig and I were soooooo jealous.
July has been a whirlwind of activity. Gus and I traveled to Virginia to visit my dear friends Hillary and George. While we were there, we went to Jennifer Weiner's book signing (SHE'S MY FAVORITE!!!!!) and Gus actually made her laugh! Go Gus!!!! Check out Hillary's book blog to see what she wrote about it! (JENNIFER WEINER even linked to her page!!!!!) http://bookwormz2010.wordpress.com/2010/07/15/cupcakes-and-friends-and-weiner-oh-my/

Hillary and her fabulous friends helped ring in my 31st birthday (two weeks early)! A blast was had by all.

Currently, I am updating our blog whilst gazing at the Atlantic Ocean. Craig and I drove the boys down to Ormond Beach (near Daytona) for the week.

We will not be using the directions Craig got from Google maps to get us down here. It took um about 16 hours and it was totally the bus route! I kept waiting for a mega phone toting tour guide to start pointing out lighthouses and local haunts! It was TERRIBLE!!!! We were on back roads like Plant Street and Victoria for 100 miles at a time! Grrr.... That's what happens when momma doesn't do the navigating. :)

Things I love...

I love being Craig's wife. My favorite way to wake up is by getting snotty eskimo kisses from my son, Evan. I failed at my attempts to be a vegetarian...but still think I am a good person. I love to laugh, even though sometimes I snort and other times I sound like a dying hyena. I love when the electricity goes out. Craig and I get out our camping lantern and play board games in the dim light...it's actually quite romantic. He even lets me play clue because I LOVE IT....even though he absolutely abhors it. That's love. I love that my son told me yesterday that I was a "big smart mommy." I like the color yellow best, but look terrible in it (although I wore a yellow pullover jacket nonstop for 4 years until it literally fell apart.) I can honestly say I don't hate anyone. I have a freakish ability to memorize movie quotations, and can retell a tv episode so well that you need not even watch the darn thing. I love surprises. (Every so often, when my husband is leaving for work, he leans in for a hug and kiss and instead pulls me in tight and slow dances with me in the kitchen. I love that.) I love that I never knew I could love another child like I love my first born, but the second I met Gus my heart miraculously doubled.I like scary movies, but at the theater end up so scared that I either sit with the concession stand workers out front or spend half the movie staring at my husband waiting for him to tell me it's okay to look. (When I watch them at home- I've found that the key to watching scary movies alone is to mute the tv. You may miss something kinda important, but you won't be cleaning up pee off the sofa either...)I love when my son tells me he wants to tell me a secret and he cups his hand behind my neck, and whispers ssshupsupsssshpp in my ear. I am a good listener-but anyone who knows me well will say I'm a better talker.....
